SPIRITUAL GIFTS: WISDOM

Our desire is that every Christ-follower is an active member of a local church and to know what spiritual gifts God has given them for building up the church and the common good. Once you have an idea of how God has gifted you with unique manifestations of the Spirit, use the following next-step guide to help you develop and deploy your gifts as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

WISDOM

The gift of (word of) wisdom is the divine enablement to know the mind of the Holy Spirit in such a way as to receive insight into how given knowledge may best be applied to specific needs arising in the body of Christ.

Developing a wisdom muscle and framework is best started by a deep exploration of the Wisdom Books of the Bible. Devote time and energy to Proverbs, Job and Ecclesiastes.

  • This gift can be used in such a wide variety of circumstances that we won’t try and provide an entire list. Essentially, this can be deployed in small or large church gatherings, with family, at work, amidst Christians looking to honour God in their decisions and non-Christians as a way of displaying the power and wisdom of God to them so they might see Jesus and turn to him.

  • You must be actively engaged in your local church community because this gift requires being on the inside of people’s personal lives as well as knowing what the community as a whole is needing or going through.
