SPIRITUAL GIFTS: TONGUES

Our desire is that every Christ-follower is an active member of a local church and to know what spiritual gifts God has given them for building up the church and the common good. Once you have an idea of how God has gifted you with unique manifestations of the Spirit, use the following next-step guide to help you develop and deploy your gifts as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

TONGUES

The gift of tongues is the divine enablement to speak to God in a language they have never learned and/or receive and communicate an immediate message of God to His people through a divinely anointed utterance in a language they have never learned.

  • Privately, use this gift as often as you can when you pray in order to build yourself up, especially in times when words are insufficient. It is also probably appropriate to pray in tongues in a small group setting without lots of people who are visiting or are unbelievers.

  • Publicly, approach the elders if you feel you have a tongue to share in one of our gatherings.
